Reviews:
-- A Must Have for Fly-Fishing in Colorado
Marty Bartholomew has not only proven himself as pro for Ross Reels and Scott Rods, an elite fly tyer, and one of the classiest individuals in the fly fishing industry, but he has now proven that he can write the most informative book available on fly fishing in Colorado.

As a former fly fishing instructor, I often referred to this book as "The Bible on Fly Fishing in Colorado." Bartholomew attacks every aspect of the waters covered in this book from where to fish it, what to use, how to get there, when hatches are taking place, and even where to park. The Flyfisher's Guide to Colorado essentially takes the reader on a guided trip to the water he or she desires. This book is certainly a must have.

-- Excellent, comprehensive review of Colorado fly fishing
I met Marty at a fishing show in Denver this winter. He was much too modest about this book. I bought it at Pat Dorsey and Joel Hubscher's recommendation - it is first-rate, thanks for the referral.

Recommended by Bill Louthan, owner of Alpine Angler Aurora, as the best fly fishing guide to Colorado.

From the Author of "Fly Fishing the South Platte River"
If you can't find a dozen things in this book you really want to know -- then I'm looking forward to YOUR next book! I learned what the top ten Front Range caddisflies are (I didn't know there were ten); ditto for mayflies. I found a half-dozen new fly patterns I'm anxious to try and two dozen new creeks to fish. I'll never again schedule a business trip to Fort Collins without taking a fly rod and this book. If you've figured out which end of the fly pole to grab, you probably need a copy too!

Besides the new picture of the cutthroat from Rocky Mountain National Park on the cover, changes have been made inside the book as well, additional waters from around the state have been added.

About the Author:
Tim Kelley's vision was to chronicle in detail all of the fishing waters in Colorado. The resulting guides have been a valuable resource to countless fishermen over the past 46 years. My name is Kip Carey and I've been fishing Colorado for over 35 years and it now my pleasure to to present the 2001-2002 edition of this outstanding book.

This will be the 19th edition of the classic Tim Kelley's Colorado Fishing Guide. In 1999 I was able to obtain the rights to this great resource. It is my goal to to reintroduce this publication to fishermen everywhere so that they may enjoy fishing Colorado as much as I do. Kip Carey--This text refers to the Paperback edition

Fly Fishing Southern Colorado: An Angler's Guide (Paperback)

Reviews:
-- A good overall reference to Colorado Fly Fishing
I ordered this book in planning a fly fishing trip to Colorado. I'm still haven't yet decided where to go but this book provides the information to make a decision. The is plenty of detail on what to expect, how to get there, what fish are in that area, how to fish for them and particularly what equipment (rod lengths and weight, leader length, tippet size etc) is needed. This was money well spent.

-- An Essential Guide to Exploring Southern Colorado Fishing
If you are thinking about a fly fishing trip, but you are not sure where to go... consider picking up this in excellent guide book. Southern Colorado is a spectacular place to visit and fish and a wonderful alternative to the crowds of Montana and Wyoming, but there is lots of water and places to go. The best way to optimize your visit is to let Fly Fishing Southern Colorado : An Angler's Guide show the best places to go. Excellent, informative text complement the maps and directions and clearly outline where to go, what to bring, what to expect, and the best time to do it. As a native of southern Colorado, I still find myself turning to Fly Fishing Southern Colorado : An Angler's Guide for ideas on where to go for the afternoon, day, or the occasional week-long fishing trip. I think this is an indispensable book that has been missing for too long.

Reviews:
wildlife guide welcome addition to sportsman library
Dennis McKinney's "Gude to Colorado State Wildlife Areas" is a terrific resource for those who hunt, fish, and otherwise enjoy Colorado Wildlife areas. It is the first compendium that I am aware of which lists all of the wildlife areas and provides good directions to them. Some of these areas have been difficult to locate before this book came out, so it's worth the money if that was all it did.   There's much more than directions The "Guide" provides a synopsis of the kind of terrain and cover found in each wildlife area, and which kinds of activities are allowed, or desired. It also lists the size of the areas and other public areas nearby. It's also nicely illustrated...many of the photos are quite lovely.

--  I gave the binding of this book a good workout the first day I received it. Dennis McKinney gives a wealth of information on Colorado's SWAs. I moved from the Upper Penninsula of Michigan to Colorado Springs and was wondering where I could hunt deer, elk, waterfowl, and small game (This book is going to have me doing more fishing too). This book gave me exactly what I needed. It provides sizes, locations and directions, type, quality of fishing and hunting, and regulations of all State Wildlife Areas. He even provides useful tips like maybe needing a 4WD vehicle to access certain areas. If you want to hunt and/or fish in Colorado and are wondering where to go, start with this book. Contains many nice color photos as well.
