Colorado Fly Fishing Pictures of
Really Big Colorado Trout

Huge Taylor River Brown taken on #22 black pheasant tail -- Click Image to Enlarge
Editor: Comments per Tad Howard Owner of ColoradoTroutHunters.com
Tad Howard with a November brown trout from the Taylor river below Taylor res. It was caught minutes before a huge snowstorm hit the area.

The flows were low and we were fishing deep slow water with indicators. The takes were incredibly soft. Hooked on a #22 black pheasnt tail This fish put up an impressive fight.

One of the most beautiful browns I have seen in Colorado.  This fish, like all the trout we catch, was returned for future anglers to enjoy.

Monster Platte River Cutbow -- Click Image to Enlarge
Colorado Trout Hunters guide Chris Eisenhard with a monster cutbow from the platte. This big male was a bulldog.

It was in a very narrow channel and kept its head down making it quite a standoff. Chris eventually won. This monster was fooled on one of Chris's many secret patters that have fooled countless Colorado trout.

Classic Dream Stream Double -- 51.5 inches of trout -- one on left = 26.5" one on right=25" Click Image to Enlarge
A classic Dream Stream double. Colorado Trout Hunter guide Jake Goin, and Tad Howard with 51.5 inches of trout.

Jake's fish (the one on the left) was a 26.5 inch brute that swam over and inhaled an egg pattern. Tad's fish (one on the right) taped at 25 inches and was taken on a midge.

The fish were in deep slow water. As Jake battled his, I (Tad) spotted the second biggun' and the next thing I knew we were doubled up. This is a picture I (Tad) will have in my head every time I fish the Dream Stream.

29" Rainbow Caught by Tad Howard of ColoradoTroutHunters.com -- Click Image to Enlarge
This last fish was caught April 3, 2006. Very low water and very few fish made fishing tough.

We did manage to catch a few including this very long rainbow. Although I don't think this fish looks that long in the picture, I put a tape on her at 29.25 inches.

If she wasn't spawned out, she would have been significantly larger. She was caught in a slow deep pool and had a lot of spunk left. When released she seemed very energetic, I would love to see her in another year!!
