Top of line Legend Elite* -- generally 500 to 550 dollars
Next best Grade Legend Ultra* -- a great mid price value at 300 to 320 dollars
The Avid Series* -- a great bargain priced rod from 170 to 230 dollars
Reign* -- The Reign is a new series of fly rods for 2006. Sizes range from 7 foot six inches to nine feet with both 2 and 4 piece rods. Line weights range from 4 to 9wt. All rods are moderate fast action. Prices range from $130 to $160 dollars.
Triumph -- 5 year warranty rods bargain priced from $90 to $120 dollars. Fly Fishing Combos from $140 to $170. These rods are the least quality St Croix makes. But for only a few dollars more, you can step up to the Reign or the Avid Series and get a Limited Lifetime Warranty and a whole lot more rod for your Dollar.

St Croix Fly Fishing Combos

The Fly Fishing Combos combine a St Croix Triumph Fly Rod with a St Croix Fly Reel. Rods feature black aluminum-oxide stripper guides, stainless steel snake guides on the rod, premium grade cork handles, the fly reel has a smooth disc drag and a large arbor design. Each fly fishing combo comes with a limited 5 year warranty backed by St. Croix's outstanding customer service.

Each Fly Fishing Package features a St Croix Triumph Fly rod, smooth adjustable disc drag fly reel pre-spooled with a floating fly line, 20 lb. backing, tapered fly leader, and a cloth rod sack with a protective plastic rod case.

Editor Note: The 7'6" models for smaller streams come in 2 pc or 4 pc models in 2 wt, 4wt or 6wt. I would recommend the 2 or 4 wt for smaller stream fishing.

The 9'0" models come in 2 pc or 4 pc models for 5, 6 or 8 wt fly lines for medium to larger waters. A 5 wt is a good beginning fly wt line to start learning fly fishing because of the ease of casting and line mending. The 2 piece model offers convenience of setup if you are not traveling via airlines. If you travel a lot take a look at the 4 piece models.

The 2 pc models are priced at a modest $140 and the 4 pc models at $160.
