Improve your catch rate with a Wonderfurl Furled Leader. For most trout fishing I suggest you start with a 6# Clear Monofilament for Dry Fly or a 6# Green Tint Fluorocarbon 5 ft for nymphing. The green tint is very light but allows you to follow the leader. The Wonderfurl leader is designed to last. I call them the 3 year leader. How many ordinary monofilament leaders will you go through in 3 years.
