I have been looking for a good description of how drag systems in modern fly reels work. Today, I was on the midcurrent.com website. During my looking through the site a picture caught my eye. Underneath was the link to this site (itinerantangler.com), where I found this article http://www.itinerantangler.com/podcasts/2007/08/article_brake_jobs.html by Zack Matthews
A great article with a through and complete discussion of the various types of drag systems used in modern fly reels. Recommended reading for those interested in the single most important component of a fly reel.
Itinerantangler is a great fly fishing website run by Zack and his wife Lauren Matthews. Take time to look around and read more of the articles. Lots of fine pics too.
