High Plains Drifters Fly Tying Class 1/31/09

High Plains Drifters announces a free fly tying class Sat 1/31 at Gander Mountain in Aurora, CO at East Jewell and Abilene St. just off I-225 from 10 am to 12 noon.

The instructor is Marshall Estes who has 38 years of tying experience.

We will watch a short video on the underwater behavior of midges from the DVD "Bugs of the Underworld" by Ralph and Lisa Cutter.

Then we will examine basic tying tools, including types of fly tying vises, and cover basic fly tying techniqes. After which we will tie an RS2, the Black Beauty and Zebra Midges. All of these flies are tied with a thread body and a dubbed head or thorax.

Preregistration is required because each participant will receive a free dubbing fluffer, a handout and links to movies of how to tie each fly covered in the class.

For more information – Fly Tying Class and Fly Tying Materials ListStudents will need to bring their own tools and materials. Since the class is free we can not supply tying materials or tools.
